Serenity

I haven't uploaded in a long while so I decided it was about time to do so once again, though with something a bit different this time - photography.

This was for a school assignment sometime last year when we had a unit on photography. My concept was basically really unclear, but hey, I managed to take good shots for the first time I handled a DSLR. 

So a bit about this picture. It really looks serene when seen from a distance (thus the title) but it is actually a columbarium (aka where you put dead peoples' ashes) for Dutch soldiers who died in Indonesia during World War 2. I really wanted to make it look like "paradise" in the picture so to soften the juxtaposition of the apartment building in the back I exaggerated the blueness of the sky. Other than that not much editing was done really.

The architecture of the place itself is marvelous, which automatically lends itself to photography. But access to the place was actually quite difficult and I had to make quite the effort to get in there and take pictures. But it was really worth it, especially since I never knew such a place existed in the city I live in.
